As a PLC/SCADA Engineer, you will develop innovative control and automation systems for high-tech dredging vessels and advanced maritime simulators. You’ll work on large multidisciplinary projects as well as several smaller project simultaneously.
What will you do as a PLC/SCADA Engineer?
In this role, you are responsible for designing, programming, configuring, and testing software for complex control and automation systems. You translate functional requirements into reliable PLC, SCADA, and HMI solutions that meet the demanding quality and safety standards of the maritime industry.
Your responsibilities
- Designing and programming PLC control systems;
- Developing SCADA and HMI solutions;
- Preparing functional specifications and technical designs;
- Integrating PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley or comparable platforms;
- Configuring complete control and automation systems;
- Developing new functionalities and technical standards;
- Testing and validating systems using simulation software;
- Configuring industrial networks and communication connections between different systems;
- Analysing and resolving complex technical issues;
- Verifying that solutions comply with project requirements, technical specifications, and applicable standards;
- Collaborating with project managers, lead engineers, and engineers from other technical disciplines;
- Guiding and supporting junior engineers;
- Contributing to knowledge sharing and the continued development of the PLC/SCADA team;
- Preparing for potential career progression into a leadership position.
Working within the maritime sector
You will work within a specialized engineering department focused on complex automation solutions for the dredging and maritime industries. The organization develops advanced systems for high-tech dredging vessels and realistic maritime simulators, with reliability, innovation, and quality at the heart of every project.
As part of a dedicated PLC/SCADA team of approximately twelve engineers, you will contribute to technically challenging projects that vary considerably in size and complexity. You will work on complete automation systems, from the initial functional specifications and software design to configuration, simulation, and technical validation.

Requirements
- You have a bachelor’s or master’s level of professional and intellectual ability, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Control Engineering, or a comparable technical field;
- You have relevant professional experience in PLC/SCADA engineering, industrial automation, or control engineering;
- You have experience in designing, programming, and developing software for control systems;
- You have knowledge of industrial networks and network configurations;
- You can translate functional specifications into technical designs and operational software;
- You have a good command of technical English, both written and spoken;
- Experience within the maritime industry or shipbuilding is considered an advantage;
- Experience with Allen-Bradley or comparable PLC platforms is considered an advantage;
- You have strong communication and collaboration skills;
- You are eligible to work in The Netherlands, or hold a valid EU work permit.
