As the lead engineer shipbuilding, you’re steering a small (project) team, preparing basic and detailed engineering packages of vessels.Â
This client keeps expanding each year, making their portfolio more and more extensive, and contributing to the creation of high-quality shipbuilding projects. And with multiple specialized product groups, they make sure each part of the ships meets the high standards.
The responsibilities of the lead engineer shipbuilding,
- Working out the designs, detail- and work drawings, and specifications within standards and procedures;
- Registering and archiving drawings, designs, and information related to the project;
- Drawing up the construction plans and deck arrangements, and moreover;
- Creating structural designs and integrating steel outfitting and structures;
- Carrying out calculations such as weight elaboration, stability, and structures in the shipbuilding areas;
- Performing risk and feasibility analyses on initial designs;
- Creating order lists and preparing technical specifications for purchase orders;
- Supporting the approval processes at the client, class, and national authorities levels;
- Supporting the coordination of outsourced work;
The lead engineer shipbuilding brings,
- A bachelor’s degree in Maritime Engineering or related in the field of shipbuilding;
- 1 – 2 years of relevant work experience;
- Experience with various software packages, such as AutoCAD, Rhino, and Nupas-Cadmatic, whereby experience Maxsurf and/or Siemens NX would be a plus;
- Excellent communication skills in the English language, both written and spoken;
- A big interest in innovation with an open mindset to new technologies;
- Effectiveness in planning and organizing with a result-focused mindset;
- The willingness to learn new skills;
- The eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
