The sr. naval architect performs essential naval architecture calculations to support the yacht designs.
As the sr. naval architect, you have a key role in the delivery of world-class yachts. You guide the design decisions and contribute expert insights throughout the entire project lifecycle.Â
This client is a Dutch shipbuilding organization based in a major maritime hub. They specialize in designing and constructing high-end yachts and support vessels, combining engineering, craftsmanship, and advanced technology while working closely with international owners, designers, and project teams.
The responsibilities of the sr. naval architect,
- Preparing, checking, and maintaining weight calculations and stability calculations;
- Preparing relevant Sea Acceptence Test protocols and participating in sea trials, verifying performance and vessel characteristics;
- Performing supporting inclining tests;
- Liaising with classification societies, inspection authorities;
- Drafting and reviewing calculations for key design aspects;
- Acting as a technical sparring partner within the engineering team;
- Providing solutions for bottlenecks and proposing improvements when adjustments are needed;
- Collaborating with other naval architects and supporting the less experienced ones;
The sr. naval architect brings,
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture;
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience;
- A strong command of Microsoft Office and relevant naval architecture software;
- The ability to work independently and in a team;
- A strong analytical mindset with an eye for details;
- Comfortability with communicating with authorities, engineers, and project teams;
- An excellent command of the English language;
- The eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
