As an Electrical Engineer Marine Ships, you design and substantiate complex electrical installations for naval vessels and submarines throughout their entire lifecycle.
What will you do as an Electrical Engineer?
In this role, you are responsible for calculating, designing, and integrating electrical installations on board naval vessels. You translate functional requirements into reliable electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and substantiating calculations. Throughout the project, you collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical support during production, installation, testing, and final handover.
Your responsibilities
- Designing electrical installations and power distribution systems for naval vessels and submarines;
- Coordinating the electrical integration of onboard systems and equipment;
- Performing calculations to substantiate electrical designs;
- Preparing designs and technical documentation for assessment by classification societies and other relevant authorities;
- Drawing up specifications for electrical materials, equipment, and components;
- Translating designs into detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications;
- Verifying that electrical solutions comply with project requirements, applicable regulations, and technical standards;
- Providing technical support during the production and installation phases;
- Supporting the testing, commissioning, and handover of completed equipment and systems;
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers, production teams, suppliers, and clients;
- Identifying technical challenges and developing practical and reliable engineering solutions;
- Contributing to both newbuild and service and refit projects.
Working within the shipbuilding sector
You will work for an internationally operating maritime systems integrator specializing in the integration of electrical and automation systems aboard naval vessels, submarines, and luxury yachts. The organization contributes to both newbuild projects and complex upgrades, remaining involved in the maintenance and modernization of systems throughout a vessel’s entire lifecycle.
You will join a multidisciplinary engineering department where electrical design, automation, and systems integration come together. Projects are technically challenging and highly varied, giving you the opportunity to see your designs progress from engineering to production and installation. Requirements
- You have completed an secondary educational level 4 or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical field;
- You have several years of experience in designing electrical installations;
- Experience within the maritime industry is considered an advantage;
- You have knowledge of or experience with EPLAN, or you are motivated to develop these skills;
- You have an affinity with maritime electrical engineering and systems integration;
- You are capable of preparing calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings;
- You work accurately, methodically, and in a structured manner;
- You have strong communication and collaboration skills;
- You are proficient in the Dutch and the English language, written and spoken;
- You hold a valid category B driving licence;
- You are eligible to work in the Netherlands.
